Low Surface Energy Tape 61122R | For Difficult to Bond Metals and Plastics

Low surface energy tape 61122R is a double-coated foam tape that is used to bond powder coated metals or difficult to bond plastics. This product has a high initial tack, perfect for when a permanent high strength is required and suitable for bonding stiffeners or sections of panels after they are powder coated.

61122R: 6 (structural tape), 1122R (supplier code)

Examples of applications include powder coated surfaces such as rainscreens on buildings, electrical cabinets and sign construction. For extreme high temperature applications, we recommend pre powder coat tape 6189HT.

How to apply low surface energy tape 61122R

Before applying low surface energy tape 61122R, surfaces should be clean, dry and free of any dirt, dust and grease. For the best results, we recommend using a degreasing product such as our CTA IPA Cleaner Degreaser.

  • Use sufficient pressure over the whole surface at room temperature to ensure maximum adhesion to substrates.
  • The ideal application temperature is between 21 – 40°C.
  • Primers can be used to increase the bond performance and surface tension. We recommend CTA Primer or CTA UV Identifiable Primer to achieve the best results.
  • Ensure uniform stress distribution.
