CTA 2206 is a 10:1 ratio black methacrylate adhesive and part of our structural bonding range. Designed for applications for the powder coating process. This adhesive is capable of bonding most metals, plastics and composites. Often used when bonding mild steel straps on structural sheet work, sealing weld seams, bonding stainless and aluminium letters / signs and bonding mild steel. It has high temperature resistance, tensile and shear performance.
Working time: 2 – 4 minutes
Fixture time: 4 – 6 minutes
Temperature range: -55°C to +150°C (short term 220°C)
Paint / Powder coat cycle: 20 minutes @ 220°C
Available in 50ml and 490ml.

Two part structural adhesive 2206 technical information
Two Part Structural Adhesive 2206 is a methyl methacrylate (which is the methyl ester of methacrylate acid). Its primary use is to manufacture a number of different plastics, but it is also the main ingredient in our range of adhesive products.
Methacrylate adhesives are supplied in a two part system that, when mixed, offer a controlled cure speed suited to the application. The cured adhesive can offer incredibly high tensile, shear and peel strength, whilst also resisting impact loads at both elevated and sub zero temperatures.
- Temperature range: -55°C to +150°C (short term 220°C)

10:1 ratio generation adhesive 2206 offers high functional shear strength after the initial cure. This unique chemistry allows this grade to not only maintain a high functional strength through the powder coating process, but actually improves in all aspects of functional strength performance.

How to apply two part structural adhesive 2206
Our two part structural adhesive 2206 has a 2 – 4 minute working life with a 4 – 6 minute fixture time. Before dispensing, ensure that surfaces are clean, dry and free any dirt, dust and grease. For the best results, we recommend using CTA IPA Cleaner Degreaser.
- Use sufficient pressure over the whole surface at room temperature to ensure maximum adhesion to substrates.
- The ideal application temperature is between 15 – 25°C.
- Primers can increase the bond durability and surface tension for difficult to bond materials. We recommend CTA Primer or CTA UV Identifiable Primer to achieve the best results.
- Ensure uniform stress distribution.
