The marine sector calls for bonding solutions that support waterproofing, weatherproofing and streamlining alongside efficient manufacturing processes. We have a proven track record of supplying reliable performance adhesives and tapes to this sector.
The following are typical problems within the marine sector that can be solved using adhesives, tapes and sealants:
Problem | Solution | Product Category |
---|---|---|
Durability and Weather Resistance | Structural adhesives are used to seal windows, prevent leaks, and protect against environmental factors. | Structural Adhesives |
Vibration and Noise Control | Vibration-damping adhesive products are often used in vehicle interiors, underbody parts, and assemblies to improve comfort and reduce mechanical wear. | Polyurethane Adhesive Sealant |
Composite bonding | Structural adhesives adhesives designed for non-metallic materials, such as plastic or rubber, can securely bond these components in various applications like deck fittings, hull construction, and more. | Structural Adhesives |
Corrosion Prevention | Structural Adhesives and Tapes form a protective barrier that reduces the risk of rust and corrosion. | Structural Adhesives |
Sealing and Insulation | Tapes can be used for sealing gaps, seams, and joints, preventing air and moisture infiltration. | Structural Tapes |
Weight reduction | Structural Adhesives to replace mechanical fasteners. | Structural Adhesives |
Simplicity in manufacturing | Adhesives can be quickly applied with enough working time to allow for adjustment and also offer rapid cure time. | Structural Adhesives |
These are typical transportation applications for adhesives , tapes and sealants:
- Waterproofing and insulation
- Hull assembly bonding
- Deck and flooring installation
- Window and portholes
- Marine trim and accessories
- Maintenance and repair
Suitable Products for Marine Manufacturing:
We believe that adhesives, tapes, and sealants are integral to the design, manufacturing, and maintenance of marine vessels. Their ability to bond, seal, insulate, and waterproof makes them invaluable in the marine manufacturing sector. The choice of material depends on the specific application and environmental challenges, such as exposure to saltwater, UV radiation, and temperature fluctuations.
We offer expert adhesive advice for marine sector manufacturing and can recommend best practices for metal and composite bonding and adhesive safety and handling tips. We can also help when trouble shooting and advise on how to select the correct adhesive for marine manufacturing. If you would like to discuss any of your marine design concerns, then please contact us.
Here are some of our best-selling products for the transportation sector as well as uses for adhesives and tapes. They range from structural adhesives and high strength tapes to sealants and application specific solutions.
Structural Adhesives
Our two-part structural adhesive is a Methacrylate acrylic adhesive, used to bond metal, steel, aluminium and even dissimilar metals together. Structural Adhesive distributes stress uniformly across bonded surfaces with no surface interference. These adhesives form a protective seal against the elements and are lightweight when compared to metal components. Adhesives can be applied quickly and cure without extensive tooling and alignment.
Sealants
Non-solvent, high grab and flexible all purpose multi-purpose polyurethane adhesive sealant 12126. Ideal for a wide variety of sealing and bonding applications.
Tapes
Protection Tape (co-ex) 3380 gives UV protection. Predominately used within the metal fabrication and window and door and marine industries.
“We needed to source an adhesive that would fill a large (9.5m long) joint to attach the hull and deck moulded components of our vessels together.”
